We are the dedicated Nexton division of Coastal Carolina’s wider Summerville Heating Repair Team.
If your system cools but won't heat (or vice versa), your reversing valve might be stuck. We can replace it without replacing the whole unit.
System turning into a block of ice? A bad control board might be preventing the defrost cycle. We carry replacement boards on the truck.
Is your 'Aux Heat' light staying on? This ruins your energy efficiency. We fix the sequencers and strips to get you back to efficient heating.
Unlike a gas furnace that creates heat, your heat pump moves heat. It’s the most efficient way to warm homes in our mild Lowcountry winters. However, complex systems like the Carrier Infinity units found in Nexton or the Trane systems common in Cane Bay require specialized diagnostic tools.
A handyman might overcharge your refrigerant or bypass safety switches. Coastal Carolina Comfort technicians are certified to handle refrigerant (EPA 608) and troubleshoot the complex communication wires in modern smart-heat pumps.
If it's cold/rainy and your unit goes 'Whoosh' and releases steam, that is normal Defrost Mode. If it lasts longer than 15 mins, call us.
During defrost, the system temporarily cools to melt ice. You should feel the heat strips kick on to compensate. If not, your strip heat is broken.
A light frost is fine. A solid 1-inch layer of ice on the fins means you have a refrigerant leak or a fan motor failure. Turn it off immediately.
Common in communicating systems (like in Summers Corner). It usually means a broken wire or a fried interface module.
We don’t guess. We follow manufacturer specs for warranty-compliant repairs on the systems most common in Dorchester County.
Check your outdoor unit. If it runs and makes noise when the heat is on, it's a heat pump. Gas furnaces only use the outdoor unit for AC.
Your heat pump might be relying on "Emergency Heat" (electric strips) because the outdoor compressor isn't running. This is 3x more expensive. We can fix it.
Generally, if the repair is over $600, we recommend replacement. Heat pumps in Summerville run year-round (AC + Heat), so they age faster than furnaces.
Whether you have a split system in Historic Downtown or a high-SEER system in Summers Corner, our trucks are stocked with the capacitors, contactors, and refrigerant needed to fix it today.
